# SMS

Spike sends an SMS when an incident triggers.

## Change incident status via SMS

You can acknowledge or resolve an incident by sending an SMS from your registered phone number. Send a new message (not a reply) with the incident ID:

1. **#\<incident\_id> ack** to acknowledge (example: `#1226 ack`)
2. **#\<incident\_id> res** to resolve (example: `#2071 res`)

Check if your country or region supports SMS on the [geo permissions page](https://app.spike.sh/geo-permissions).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.spike.sh/alerts/sms.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
